Hello again!

Crappy photos I know.. No light at all today (winter here) But I’m just trying to get posts done! So neeerrr anyone who sneers at them :p

Here is the BEST daffodil pattern I’ve ever seen. Of course Lucy from attic24 made it for us (well herself) and is kind enough to give us a tut on how to make them.
As always she uses cotton here and it definitely looks better than mine. I’m going to try some in bamboo but they will be floppy so might have to PVA the back .. Aaanyway.

Here is the link straight to the pattern but I HIGHLY suggest taking a look around the attic … If you haven’t already. Think about donating a cup of coffee to her if you get something out of it. I think people think she’s rich and just does this because. But she does it out of love. And she just cant help herself but share. I admire that so much.

Daffodil pattern/tut,

http://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/crochet-daffodil.html

Her photo tuts are like no other. They cover EVERYTHING.

So mine need some blocking because I keep wearing them the petals are curling. Hehe. I just wanted to show you guys. Also there is a photo of the back .. See how neat everything is? Man she makes good patterns.
The trumpet part of the flower can be fiddly at first go but once you’ve done it you’ll be making more i assure you :)

THANKS LUCY!!! Thankyou for giving me a blog that is SO engaging.

You can go back through the archives and read and see in great detail all her adventures. Lucy lives in THE MOST incredible place. I mean seriously!? It’s like feary land.
It’s a bit like that here, just no canals.

K, that’s it
Get hooked!
Enjoy! xx

Spring wreath turned Summer wreath story! .. Details & links within

ADDED: this looks terrible in dashboard mode .. so go to the page if you really want to see it in all its glory ;)

So i finally did it! The one of MANY projects I’ve had in my “To do but won’t for some reason” list ..

and I’m proud to say i FINALLY did it. I had SO much fun doing it, from go to whoa.

This pattern/piece is from 3 different patterns by Lucy at Attic24, i have mentioned and linked to her many times and will do at the bottom of this post ;)

I used Lucy’s pattern to make the ring, although i had to make mine wider cause i knew what i was putting on there would need to be a wider ring. Only by one row .. but of treble, so you get quite a bit more from just one row.

So i started out by making a HEAP of "May roses". This was before i even knew what i was going to do with them .. then saw another crocheted wreath of hers and just went POP!

Here are HER may roses .. as i am to lazy to dig out photo’s of them BEFORE i sewed them onto my wreath ;) There is a link to the pattern there to make your own. I HIGHLY suggest it, because a lot of these type of flowers, made by curling up a long piece never look right. I find these ALWAYS turn out very rosy indeed. And her leaves are perfection .. just got to get the picot point to get the realistic look

Link to may roses pattern:

http://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/may-roses.html

So next was to make 2 rings, in any colour .. but I’m a beginner so i went safe & made a more realistic wreath. I now have a more modern idea with zany colours I’m going to do next. ;)

Here are the rings, which take like and hour to make 2 .. so quick. Its all trebles.

Then i played with the layout for AGES .. making decisions that were going to be committed and sewn on (you can always undo .. but I’m a perfectionist ) here is me playing with the layout options.

none of which i ended up staying with lol!

So .. i was FAIRLY happy with that .. but i DID have this other green that kept nagging me saying “USE ME FOR A LEAF!” .. so i made 2 and put them up to the wreath and it all came together. I never would have thought this bluey-green would work. There is SO much to learn about colour in crochet. ;) A ball can look a certain way but then totally

different when stitched up .. or put next to other colours of course. I thought when i embarked on this hooky journey that i knew so much about colour & that would really help.

but I’m finding I’m at a loss sometimes .. and then I’ve done experiments where I’ve just THROWN some colours together to see what happens, sometimes its a total A-HA moment. LOVE IT.

So the sea green leaves are going in .. you’ll see.

I also um-d and ah-d over the yellow flower at the top .. i had a bright sun yellow flower and a pale yellow flower, i went with what i wouldn’t normally go with .. the pale lemon yellow. Not sure if i want to switch it now though .. all done now. It will nag me every time i look at it lol!

So, i was all ready to start sewing on thinking wow I’m gong to finished this today .. and i remembered for the “Happy flower” we PVA’d the leaves to stiffen them.

I instantly knew i should do this. But it DID mean waiting till the next day for the glue to totally dry So i glued the leaves ..

You can see the sea green in there

So on goes the glue!

And when they are dry you cannot see the glue at all .. but it can be felt. So don’t do this if you can see or more to the point FEEL the back of your work ;) But otherwise it’s such a great way to make little things like leaves to stay stiff and last for years. Here they are DRY …

OK!!! NOW its time to decide whats going where and let the sewing BEGIN!! YAAAY! on goes the big bertha of the may roses. I made a big one for the bottom and they get smaller and smaller as you get to the top of the wreath. Gives a very luscious heavy bountiful look

Terrible photo .. i REALLY struggled with these photo’s cause its been SO dark and rainy ..

and on go all the rest of the leaves and flowers (I added the sea green leaves once my partner came home and i could get his opinion on them. He is a designer & we constantly help each other out. I trust his eye) So in these photo’s the sea green isn’t added till later ..

Now, to make something stiff to go inside. You could used very thick cardboard. I love to recycle, so i have all SORTS of stuff lying around and in boxes.

So in amounts all these things are these kinda polystyrene disc’s that come with a frozen pizza. I have quite a few of them, and I’m so glad cause they turned out to be

perfect for this! YAY!

So i placed one of the rings on the disc and used a pen , not to draw but to dig into as i drew around the crocheted circle. One for the outer circle and the inner circle too.

Then i was able to grab the scalpel and cut it out .. so fun :)

I ended up using 2 circles to get the thickness .. glued them together so they wouldn’t slide around once incased in their hooky home.

As i said i made 2 .. just traced the first one so they match perfectly.

So now its time to darn in all the ends and snip. Ive kept my snipped ends .. as i do, to put in my crochet journal for all the colours used .. looks pretty in the journal too.

I got SO excited as i darned in the LAST piece of yarn .. thinking REALLY?? REALLY? I’m going to be whip stitching this in a minute and it will be done YAY .. but awww that its over.

Hopefully this will make me continuer to make a heap more in all different styles. As i said earlier, i have a modern one pictured, using outrageous colours and possibly using Mollie flowers for the flowers. Then there is a amigurumi fruit one i want to do and of course Christmas wreaths! I have these miniature pine cones that would look great amongst other crocheted Chrismassy things :)

So as i said my partner really helped .. cause adding the sea green leaves and also he helped me decide where they looked best and it all came together after that. So THANKYOU baby!! x

These are not great photo’s .. i will take better ones this weekend .. when there is sun! :)

I love whip stitching its so fun and is always SO NEAT when your whip stitching crochet cause there is a spot for each stitch. I love that.

Whip stitching the out side i thought would be so easy but it wasn’t quite. The flowers so heavy and what not. Once id whipped about 1/3 it was fine .. and FUN!

Doing the inner circle was bit tricky. And you CAN see the black ring a TEENY bit. But because it happened to be black you really don’t see it. but I think I’m going to do another

round of whip stitching to hopefully fill in the holes .. just to see if i can make the ring to ally invisible. This can make a real difference if you wan to sell your work. Not that i would just sell this

unless i got permission and or made a donation to Lucy ;)

the ONLY thing i would do different is use a thicker or more puffy yarn for the ring. I used a yarn which was a little bit thin when stitched. For the leaves it was fine and flowers, but just not the ring.

The yarn I’m referring to is Heirloom Easy care. Its a great yarn/wool. You get different looks with it. its the way its twisted, its very textured, which has its benifits.

So there is my little Summer wreath journey. Thanks for reading, i love doing these for you! :)

So here are all the links you need to get started on your own wreath journey:

Lucy at attic24. FABULOUS women .. she is basically famous in the crochet world at the moment. A massive influence for beginners like myself. Because she makes things anyone could make, well its that AND the way she wrote patterns. She puts SO much effort in. There is a photo for each instruction and its so easy to understand .. she basically reads your mind and tells you the things you always go .. offs!? WHY didn’t they tell me that BEFORE i did 10 rows! .. haha .. you won’t get that with Lucy ;)

Such and inspiring journal she keeps .. great reading. JUST GO THERE NOW! Free patterns are down the side on bottom left if you just want to see that. But have a look around ;)

The may roses i used on my wreath:

This is a blog post she did when she made May wreath. Great photo’s and reading and IDEA”S!!

Below are Lucy’s May wreath that, one of the wreaths she did that inspired my wreath. And then there is the little Spring wreath …

THIS IS LUCY”S SPRINGTIME WREATH. Pattern below …

Her pattern for a spring wreath: It is different to mine, but shows you why a good pattern it is that you can do so much. Think outside the box! Winter,Autumn,SPring and summer for starters!

Perhaps do and animalia one or thanks giving/harvest with little crocheted corn and barley and strawberries and the like :)   .. let alone Christmas with miniature pine cones! I happen to have been given a bag of TEENY pine cones so im definitely going to make a christmas wreath .. whether it gets done by Christmas is another story all together.

and thats it for today!

Enjoy getting hooked!! x

See the flowers are GROWING!! I nearly have enough for my spring time wreath by Lucy at attic24!
I just need more medium and tiny flowers .. You can see SOME tiny flowers around the left side of the photo. They are so tiny.. I had to find the teenyest of buttons for them!
I love the big Bertha ones :) 12ply on 7mm hook.. Great brooch, hair slide or now I’m thinking I’m going to make a hair comb with an arrangement of 1 big with 2 mediums on either side and 2 leaves! It looks great in my head just have to hope it comes out that way.
I’m thinking it might sell well in the “vintage” community , like myself :)
I’ll post when I’ve made one.

Again sorry for phone posts. I am going to do some reviews and interviews (hopefully) of people, yarns and of course PATTERNS! So don’t un-follow me just yet :)
Enjoy!

These little may roses are just SO ADDICTIVE!! I CANNOT stop lol!
I need quite a lot so it’s a good thing that I’m enjoying every hooky moment :)

Sorry for all the posts from my phone, as I’ve said I have numerous blog posts : proper ones :p So I will get to the computer soon. It’s now the only reason to use the puter these days. Then when the new update comes for ios (iPhone & iPads) we should be able to upload photos from these devices without limitations. You can do 1 photo like I am now, and there is tumblita .. It CLAIMS to be able to do multiple photos but it always crashes ..
So when this update comes out I’ll be thrilled! And I’ll be able to be much more active. I have so much to share and show and talk about .. * who me??? I don’t know what u mean :p
Enjoy! And keep hooking! I’m enjoying everyone’s blogs so much :)

Oh and even though I’ve said numerous times these little beauties are Lucy’s design from attic24. Please checkout her blog and her free patterns down the left side at the bottom of her site :)
You’ll find the spring wreath and the all the different flowers, and alot of my other projects I’ve done, like “birdie” and “happy flower” .

I have SO many posts to write! I’m getting to it promise :)
This is what I’ve been doing on this BEAUTIFUL Spring like day .. I’m getting ready to make/put together my spring wreath from Lucy at attic24.
I’ve mentioned her alot .. So if any of you hooky followers haven’t been to her blog YOU MUST! Especially if yr a beginner or intermediate. But even the experts LOVE her designs and her blog is SUCH great reading.
So the photo above is the “May flower” and the spring time wreath is there too.

Just go to her page(on typepad) attic24 .. You’ll know when you get there cause you won’t be able to help but start reading! Let alone the long list of FREE patterns.. (down the left side at the bottom) And they are ALL fabulous!!
Great recycle ideas. Home decor. And just inventiveness!!

Have a great weekend everyone!
Enjoy!
Ps: these may flowers are SO QUICK.. Make at least 1 and you’ll see :) Great brooch, on a hat, in your hair, on a cushion, cluster them on a tea cosy. Decorate that top you got from the op- shop that just needs a little something :)

ok so i was looking through my box of inherited lace and milinery and there is this huge pile of i guess they are hats somehow, i should post them cause someone might know. Im not sure if they are FOR making hats? aaaanyway because there are SOOO mnay of them i decided to be thrifty and use the long feather bits for tails for my birdies! I just shot these photo’s on my phone so they are not great. But in person it gives them more character!!

I’m amazd at how it brought out the personality in each bird. Because of the buttons for eye’s where the thread that sews them on acts as a pupil and they TOTALLY look like they are looking at you like birds do! LMAO ..there is one that is quite cheeky ;)

anyway so just posting the new addition to my birdie, if you want to make your own birdies go to: for how to make the circle which is the base for this pattern:

http://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/crocheting-a-flat-circle.html

and here for the birdie!:

http://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/birdie-decoration.html

Enjoy! :D

oh so been real bust as i said in last post .. what sux is that i WAS posting SO I THOUGHT through befunky .. but i see none actually got uploaded »/

Aaanyway so here he is .. i name it “Circus stars” because the colours remind me of the circus and it just looks circus-y :)

It was SOO much harder than i thought!? I only had the six points to do but it was SO hard on my hands!! I have worked much smaller than this so i dint know why it was so hard. But it looks GREAT in person, my phhotos show the flaws unfortunately like the poly fill shows in the photo but you dont really see it with your eyes. So obviously the fliter i used is not great for crochet! lol ….But anyway, i have to either give my hands a break for 3 days (GASP) or crochet in a different style and size. I read this is a perfect way to avoid RSI and if you have RSI like me and arthritis you MUST do this when your getting pain while crocheting! Or else there will come a time where you cannot crochet and THAT would suck :(

Anyhoo here is the link to learn how to make hexagons for those that don’t:

http://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/hexagon-howto.html

Check out her whole blog if you haven’t already! Trust me its worth it. And her style of hexagons is really nice.

Here for the hexagons are my stars pattern:

http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/hexagons-are-my-stars-tutorial

Enjoy! and GET HOOKED :P

ok here is my first go at mini crochet bunting. This is actually amigurumi, as it is a tiny version of something in real life. It was really fun to make, mine was 21 flags. You could just do 8-10 and that would take about 30mins. Mine took about and hour and then 25mins to darn in 21 ends .. had to do a neat job cause they can be reversible,so i made sure you couldn’t even see the darning. In-fact i darned it so it strengthened the flag a bit.

The photos aren’t great. I am really struggling to take good photos of my work. Ive always been quite good photographer, but mainly flora and fauna. Flowers were my specialty. So ill have to practice getting the right light and stuff. I may have to take things outside to get enough light. That seems to be the main problem.

You can go here

http://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/2012/01/mini-crochet-bunting.html

to get a pattern to make some yourself. If you can at least give a ittle thankyou to Lucy for the pattern ;)
