Ok second happy flower dry now!!
I put even MORE glue on and it’s just amazing! The leaves will be even stronger on this one :)
I STILL can’t get a decent photo!! I bought the battery for my high res camera only to get home and the were the wrong ones .. Hang on I’ll pop it on the shopping list for Friday, then on the weekend I can take photos!! … K back now..
Now I must do my own version of these happy flowers.
I WISH I had the ability to design my own stuff. Lucy @ attic24 has given me the confidence to perhaps TRY!
I know I have a different flower in mind, it’s more of a Lilly type flower and I think if I use the glue but not glue the ends of the petals they will curl froward giving a more 3d feel. There are so many ways this flower could be done! Imagine a sunflower!
I would have done a sunflower if I had enough or any sunflower colours!

It’s definitely time for a yarn/button run! I only have about $40-50 to spend so I REALLY need more blues and greens… Badly. And some pastels to contrast against the saturated block colours I use.
And I need some chunky yarn to make more cowls for the ever present onset of winter.. Brrrr.
The one I did worked out SO WELL! I should post a pic of it. Designed by notsogranny on ravelry. For a beginner it’s FAB, it’s SOOOO easy, and it’s clothing that you won’t get bored doing/working in same colour forever, cause its really quick. I highly recommend you check her out on rav.

Well Autumn is making her statement now, I noticed on my walk this morning the GIANT oaks leaves are starting to turn, and boy what a sight that is once they are all bright red.
The street off my street is lined with the biggest oak tree’s I’ve ever seen on a nature strip. Then the leaves drop and BELIEVE you me in not the only one ive seen rolling in the HUGE piles of leaves! The power lines just go through the canopy. I LOVE that I live in a place where they (the council) love their trees and flower planted nature strips.
Nearly everyone has a BEAUTIFUL garden. And then you look up and out only to see rolling paddocks with a mountainous backdrop… So pretty here. Tasmania. Aaah this is the place to be if your arty or crafty. HUGE craft community here.
But being in a small and middle of no where does have its draw backs but the wonderful stuff makes up for it :)

Have a great day or night!

Weeeee! Another happy flower!

Ok I’ve done the flower and stem and leaves and a little circle , my partner has just informed me they will be late tonight home from work .. And I secretly went YAY! That means I may even get to glueing tonight! Meaning by tomorrow the glue will be dry and I can add the hang loop and attach the bottom hanging pieces! So that means this is doable in 2 days easy! On the 2nd day you would finish all the final touches .. Buttons, beads and crochet embellishments :)
It takes me SO LONG to pick the beads. And stuff. I don’t have a massive Collections of beads, but I have a lunch box container full. Mostly tribal ceramic, glass, metal and wooden beads. Most of them with holes to small :( I need some more glass colour beads with decent HOLES!!! It was only be chance that I found those beautiful beads and they had large enough holes for the last flower! It was out of a packet to make some earrings .. The earring would have been nice but oh we’ll lol.

So I guess I’ll have to make do with the tribal looking ones for this flower.. Hmm I wonder how different it will look :) Have to wait and see!

So happy when the glue dried!! I made mine of yarn/wool not cotton so I wasn’t sure how the glueing was going to go but as you can see my leaves stand right up they don’t droop at all .. Except the bottom blue one is in 100% wool and it needs another dollop of glue to keep it up with the others. But I’m just amazed at what a little bit of glue can do!!! Now I see how ALOT of the Christmas decorations I was looking at at Xmas hung. They must have glued or fixed the back so it’s stiff.
You COULD also as an added measure, glue tiny wooden skewers across the veins on the back.
So I’m here to say that wool workers just as good as cotton. ALOT of what used was cheap yarn, but it is stiff yarn so I think that helped alot. But also the pure wool seems to have worked too! So just use what you’ve got if you don’t want to venture out or if your poor like me and use what you have! :)
I DO want some cotton though. I have 4ply cotton, so I HAVE worked with it and can see the benefits. And it’s also just a bit more modern perhaps. But I find cotton picks up grime and dirt really easily. So of course there are pro’s and cons.

This is definatley one of those crochet/hand made items that look WAAAAAAAAY better in person. The colours I assure you are bright and saturated in colour. It’s just pops! … But I couldn’t capture that today …
Ok so here is my DARK photo of the whole thing! Oh so annoying its SO dark and rainy for 2 days now .. So I can’t get a decent photo!! But at least for me it’s complete and it’s up for all to see :)
I’ll take better photos when A. When I get the special battery I need for my high res camera B. when there is some natural light!!! Haha! :)
Hope you like … What you can see. xx

Oh and I STILL haven’t decided what’s going in the centre of the flower!!! Arrghhhh .. Buttons but that’s as far as I’ve got because I pour my buttons out and then I’m just in button land and it’s so hard to decide lol!

So here is the flower just before I added the hanging loop and crochet and beaded embellishment hanging from the bottom. Looks great I think .. Already started another for my Mum.
Now I was so excited to get up today and photograph it .. But it’s been a very dark rainy 2 days and I cannot seem to photograph the whole thing very well. So in next post ( cause I’m on my phone and u can’t post more than 1 on yr phone) I’ll post a dark pic of the whole thing! :)

That button in the middle looks good if u were just leaving the flower as is,but with the embellishments it’s too much.. So that’s the last thing I e got to do is DECIDE what goes in the middle of the flower!
Shame cause I DO love that button.
Enjoy! And make one!
I’ll post a link to Lucy’s blog attic24, but please consider a donation if you start making heaps of stuff of hers,
She goes to ALOT of effort to put the tutorials together :)
Get happy and get HOOKED! :p

In the final stage now of Lucy’s Happy Flower!! The glue has set beautifully! The leaves stand up on their own they don’t droop at all! Yay! There is 1 that is in a different 100% wool that isnt maybe going to stand up for long so I’ll reinforce him.
But so far so fabulous!!! I am SO proud of it, I feel like a little kid.
I wanna show everyone and stuff which is not like me.
I started out this crochet quest thinking blankets,clothes,beanies.. But people like Lucy at attic24 have shown me you can do anything! And not to mention decorations, I had not really thought of that.

Lucy has a donation button, I really must send her SOMETHING, I don’t have an income ( I’m hoping to sell crocheted items eventually) but she has given me so much from her blog that she deserves more than a Thankyou. The EFFORT she goes to for those tutorials!!! I know because I’ve done stuff like that. She covers everything and even pre-empts things you might have a problem with. Everything I’ve made so far has worked out down to the last stitch from her tutorials.
So thank you LUCY!!

I’ll post a pic when it’s all assembled and hanging!
I’m already planning my next one, which I’ll HAVE to give to Mum & Dad. Oh if only my Grandmother was still around :( She’d be SO PROUD.
She was a prolific crocheter, I’ve posted a couple if pics of my baby blankets. I should post some of the MANY queen and king sized afghans.
So the ability, and tenacity to crochet is embedded in the family, cause HER mother my Great G Mother was even more full on. I have recently inherited her hooks! They are so amazing. And about 100 years old. They are the smallest hooks I’ve ever seen.. Like less than 1mm. So she must have done tatting and lace.

Ok I better get back to sewing in the hanging loop and the beaded/crochet decoration that hangs from the bottom! Weeeeeee!

If you read this far I congratulate you! Lol! … This was a bit of a rant.
I don’t think my partner can take much more crochet/bead and button talk today. So on the blog it goes haha! :)

Ok so here is my flower the top part of the happy flower, as mentioned in my last post :) I can’t WAIT to finish it.

Ok so here is my flower the top part of the happy flower, as mentioned in my last post :) I can’t WAIT to finish it.

Added: 3rd March note this photo is not my happy flower, and I don’t think it’s Lucy (the designer) Hapoy flower either, it’s another persons Happy flower! Sorry for any confusion. My recent posts have my happy flower in the making .. Which I’m finishing today and will post :)

Hi guys :)

I’ve been REALLY sick for a few days .. I’ll be back on very soon.

I’ve just started the happy flower designed by Lucy at attic24, check out her blog. I DO have a link to her on my blog a few posts back, or obviously just google her. If your into crochet and especially a beginner/intermediate you might like her site .. I LOVE it :)
She has a different take on ALOT of aspects of crochet and most of all she gives the BEST written and photo tutorials I’ve ever seen. She has fabulous designs and she shares the patterns with us.. I mean how cool is that?
So I’ve don’t the top flower, tomorrow hopefully I’ll get the stem done and a few petals. I can’t wait for the fun part where you paint PVA glue all over the back to stiffen it :)

I’m SO weak that I couldn’t even crochet while I was REALLY sick but feeling better so I grabbed that hook and started even though I didn’t feel like it .. I’m so happy I did :)
Hope this finds you well!
